Deterministic Analysis Overview
In a Deterministic analysis it is assumed that all input parameters are "exactly" known (e.g. pillar geometry, soil stress, shear strength, etc.), and CPillar computes the factor of safety (FS) for a single pillar.
The general procedure for carrying out a Deterministic Analysis with CPillar is as follows.
1. Select Analysis Type, Pillar Shape, and Analysis Method
In the Project Settings dialog:
- Set the Analysis Type to Deterministic.
- Set the Pillar Shape to either Rectangular Pillar or Polygonal Pillar.
- Set the Analysis Method to one of the following:
- Rigid (Polygonal Pillar or Rectangular Pillar)
- Elastic (Rectangular Pillar)
- Voussoir (Rectangular Pillar)
2. Input Data
In the Input Data dialog, enter the data as described in the following topics:
3. Compute
The Deterministic Analysis is computed when you:
- Modify any inputs in the Input Data dialog, and select OK (or Apply).
- Change the Pillar Shape in Project Settings dialog.
- Change the Analysis Method in Project Settings dialog.
- Modify the geometry of a Polygonal Pillar.
4. Analysis Results
After the analysis is computed, the Sidebar will display a summary of results (factor of safety, pillar weight, etc.). A complete listing of all analysis input and output data, can be found in the Info Viewer.
