Creating a File

To create a new CPillar model:

  • Select: New New File icon on the toolbar or the File menu.

A rectangular pillar model in Perspective View (oriented in Isometric) will immediately appear on the screen.

Whenever a new file is opened, the default input data will form a valid pillar. The user can then input their own data, through the Input Data dialog.

CPillar files have a filename extension of .cpil5. Older version files have a .cpil extension.

Opening a File

To open an existing CPillar file:

  • Select: Open Folder Icon on the toolbar or the File menu.

To open a recent CPillar file:

  • Select: File > Recent Folders or use the drop-down arrow on the Open toolbar button Open File icon to choose the appropriate folder or file.

Whenever a CPillar file is opened, the analysis is automatically run on the data.

  • If the Analysis Type is set to DETERMINISTIC, you will not notice the analysis since the calculation is instantaneous.
  • If the Analysis Type is PROBABILISTIC, you may notice that it may take a few seconds to complete the analysis, depending on the Number of Samples. The progress of the analysis is indicated in the status bar.

Running the analysis each time a file is opened ensures that results can be immediately viewed. The user does not need to select Compute Compute icon unless the Pillar Information is changed (or Autocompute is OFF).

Saving a File

To save the active CPillar file:

  • Select: Save Save icon on the toolbar or the File menu.

Only Input Data is saved in a CPillar file. Analysis results are NOT saved to a file, since the analysis is automatically performed whenever a file is opened, so there is no need to save the results.

However, note that:

  • The Info Viewer provides a formatted summary of analysis results and input data, which can be copied to the clipboard or saved to a file
