Create / Open / Save File
Creating a File
To create a new CPillar model:
- Select: New on the toolbar or the File menu.
A rectangular pillar model in Perspective View (oriented in Isometric) will immediately appear on the screen.
Whenever a new file is opened, the default input data will form a valid pillar. The user can then input their own data, through the Input Data dialog.
CPillar files have a filename extension of .cpil5. Older version files have a .cpil extension.
Opening a File
To open an existing CPillar file:
- Select: Open on the toolbar or the File menu.
To open a recent CPillar file:
- Select: File > Recent Folders or use the drop-down arrow on the Open toolbar button to choose the appropriate folder or file.
Whenever a CPillar file is opened, the analysis is automatically run on the data.
- If the Analysis Type is set to DETERMINISTIC, you will not notice the analysis since the calculation is instantaneous.
- If the Analysis Type is PROBABILISTIC, you may notice that it may take a few seconds to complete the analysis, depending on the Number of Samples. The progress of the analysis is indicated in the status bar.
Running the analysis each time a file is opened ensures that results can be immediately viewed. The user does not need to select Compute unless the Pillar Information is changed (or Autocompute is OFF).
Saving a File
To save the active CPillar file:
- Select: Save on the toolbar or the File menu.
Only Input Data is saved in a CPillar file. Analysis results are NOT saved to a file, since the analysis is automatically performed whenever a file is opened, so there is no need to save the results.
However, note that:
- The Info Viewer provides a formatted summary of analysis results and input data, which can be copied to the clipboard or saved to a file
