Factor of Safety Histogram
The Factor of Safety Histogram represents the distribution of calculated Factor Safety for all valid pillars generated by the Probabilistic Analysis.
Failed pillars (i.e. Factor of Safety < Design Factor of Safety) are highlighted by the red bars at the left of the Histogram.
The Probability of Failure in CPillar is defined as the Number of Failed Pillars divided by the total Number of Samples.
- If any pillars have failed, then the Probability of Failure will be > 0.
- If NO pillars have failed, then the Probability of Failure = 0.
Mean Safety Factor
You will notice the mean, standard deviation, min and max values displayed below the histogram.
It is important to note that the Mean Factor of Safety from a Probabilistic Analysis will not necessarily be equal to the Deterministic Safety Factor based on the mean Input Data values. In general, these two values may be slightly different. For a very large number of statistical samples, the two values should approach the same value.
