Elastic Analysis Overview
Failure Modes Considered:
- Shear (vertical slippage at abutments)
- Elastic Buckling
Main Assumption
Roof behaves as an elastic fixed beam or plate, with span equal to the shorter of the x and y dimensions.
Applicability
- Low, medium, or high confining stresses
- Span / depth ratios < 3 not recommended
NOTE: Elastic Analysis is restricted to Rectangular Pillars only since the plate bending and elastic buckling formulations assume a rectangular geometry.
