Create New Files

To create a new Dips file, select the New toolbar button, or select File > New from the menu.

This will create a new Grid View with:

• An ID column header,
• Two mandatory Orientation column headers , and
• 100 empty rows.

This is the minimum Dips file configuration.

The default Global Orientation Format for a new Dips file is DIP/DIPDIRECTION. You can immediately begin entering data in the Orientation columns if this is the correct format for your data. However, in general, before you start entering data, you will need to set up your Dips file according to your requirements, as described in Project Settings Overview.

Dips files have a .dips8 filename extension
