Save a File
Dips files have a . dips8 filename extension. To save a file at any time, click on the Save toolbar button, or select File > Save from the menu.
This will save all of the data which you see in the Grid View and any open Plot View (s). All Sets, Planes, Tools, Plot Options and Display Options are automatically saved for all open stereonet views. This information is saved in a file with a * .dipsvs filename extension (the view state file) which is saved within the * .dips8 zip file.
The information in the Project Settings and Traverse Information dialogs will also be saved.
However, note that:
- The Info Viewer provides a formatted summary of analysis results and input data, which can be copied to the clipboard or saved to a file.
For any open and active Stereonet view, it is possible to export:
- Analysis data to Microsoft Excel, using the Export Data to Excel option in the File menu
- Stereonet view image, using the Export Image File option in the File menu
- Sets, Planes, and Tools using the Export Sets/Planes/Tools option in the File menu
