Intersection Plots
The intersection of two planes is a line in 3-dimensional space with Trend / Plunge orientation. An intersection line is represented as a point on the stereonet.
Intersections can be plotted as points or contours on the stereonet.
Intersection Points
To plot intersection points:
- In the Sidebar Plot Options select the Intersections checkbox.
- Select the type of i ntersection you would like to plot (e.g., Grid Data Planes, Set Planes, etc.).
For detailed information about the Intersection plotting options see the Intersections Overview topic.
Intersection Contours
To plot intersection Contours:
- In the Sidebar Plot Options select the Contours checkbox.
- Select the Contours > Intersection option.
Intersection contours are based on the intersection of all Grid Data Planes.
Kinematic Analysis
Intersection plotting is required for the Wedge Sliding and Direct Toppling Kinematic Analysis modes.
