Colour Fill Method

The Contour Color Method options determine how the contour colours will be generated.

  • The HSL and RGB methods use interpolation to determine the contour colors between the Min and Max Colours. The interpolation methods are briefly described below.
  • The Custom Interval option allows you to define a custom color for each contour interval.

Fill Method

HSL SATURATED

HSL Saturated colours are defined in terms of hue, and luminance components, with full saturation.

HSL ACUTE

HSL Acute colours are defined in terms of hue, saturation, and luminance components. The Acute method interpolates using the acute angle between the minimum and maximum colours on the "colour wheel".

HSL OBTUSE

HSL Obtuse colours are defined in terms of hue, saturation, and luminance components. The Obtuse Method interpolates using the obtuse angle between the minimum and maximum colours on the "colour wheel".

RGB LINEAR

RGB Linear colours are defined in terms of red, green, and blue components.

CUSTOM INTERVAL COLORS

If you select the Custom Interval Colors option you will see another dialog which allows you to define a custom color for each contour interval. The Number of Intervals should be set equal to the number of custom colors.

To define Custom Interval Colors in the Custom Colors dialog:

  1. In the Custom Colors dialog:
    1. Select the Add add icon button and select a color.
    2. To delete an entry, select an Interval and select the Delete delete iconbutton.
    3. To change the colour of an entry, select a Colour and select a color.
    4. Select OK to save the custom colours and close the dialog.
  2. Select the Edit button to access the Custom Colors dialog again and modify the custom colours as needed.

Fill Below Minimum and Fill Above Maximum

The Fill Below Minimum option, if checked automatically fills the contour with the Min Colour if the density value is less than the Min Contour Range. Otherwise, it is left unfilled.

The Fill Above Minimum option, if checked automatically fills the contour with the Max Colour if the density value exceeds the Max Contour Range. Otherwise, it is left unfilled.
