Mesh Refinement
After generating Mesh, you can refine the mesh density around selected geometries as follows:
- Select the Mesh workflow tab.
- Select an external volume that requires mesh refinement and select the Define Refinement Region option from the toolbar or Mesh menu.
- You can also not select any volume and select the Define Refinement Region option. In this case, you will need to define a box region from two XYZ coordinates for which mesh refinement will occur. Use the Freehand Manipulation options on the box to graphically translate or rotate your box. Hover over any arrow in the icon. Once it is highlighted, you can drag your mouse in the arrow direction to apply a translation to the entities. You can also apply a translation by selecting the ball in the icon and dragging your mouse. You can also hover over any curved line to apply a rotation about the respective axis. Right-click and select done when you are finished.
- Once you have defined a mesh refinement region, you will need to define the Mesh Refinement settings:
- Name: Name of mesh refinement region
- Distribution: Extent or Uniform element distribution
- Type: Absolute or Relative
- Absolute Element Size: Approximate side length for each element
- Relative Density: Apply a factor = 1 / specified value to the average edge length of each element affected by the region. For example, the higher the value, the smaller the elements are, and the higher the density.
- Extent (m)
- Press OK to accept the changes. You may add multiple refinement regions at a time before re-meshing.
