Units
The Units of Measurement for RocSlope3 models are specified on the Units tab of the Project Settings dialog.
You may choose Metric or Imperial units. The selection of Stress Units determines the units of length, force, stress and unit weight, for all program input and output as summarized below.
- Units Length, Force, Stress, Unit Weight
- Metric, stress as MPa meters, MN, MPa, MN/m3
- Metric, stress as kPa meters, kN, kPa, kN/m3
- Metric, stress as tonnes/m2 meters, tonnes, tonnes/m2, tonnes/m3
- Imperial, stress as tons/ft2 feet, short tons (2000 lbs), tons/ft2, tons/ft3
- Imperial, stress as ksf feet, kips, ksf, kips/ft3
- Imperial, stress as psf feet, lbs, psf, lbs/ft3
The Units should always be chosen at the start of modelling since all program input is determined by the Units setting.
If you change the Units after you start modelling, you will receive a warning message that existing values will be converted to new Units. In general, this is not recommended and may lead to errors during unit conversion.
