Collapse Small Volumes
Collapse Small Volumes is used to identify and remove small pieces resulting from surfaces that barely overlap.
- Select Geometry > Collapse Small Volumes
The following options are available in the Collapse Small Volumes dialog:
- Suggested Filtering
- Number of Volumes After Collapse
- Remove Volumes Less Than
- Advanced Filtering
Suggested Filtering
This option will select any volume <= 1% of the maximum volume in the model. When previewing your selection, the volumes to be collapsed will appear in dark red on the modelling interface.
Number of Volumes After Collapse
Entering a value here will collapse all volumes, leaving behind a number of volumes equal to the user's selection. When previewing your selection, the volumes to be collapsed will appear in dark red on the modelling interface.
Remove Volume Less Than
Selecting this option allows the user to input a maximum volume value (m3) and all volumes smaller than this number will be collapsed. When previewing your selection, the volumes to be collapsed will appear in dark red on the modelling interface.
Advanced Filtering
The Advanced Filtering option plots the model volumes graphically, either using a histogram or a line plot.
Drop-down menus provide an option for selecting the data to be plotted: volume, surface area, and persistence. Additional data modification options are also available: None, Normalized, Logarithm, Cube Root, Cumulative Distribution.
Selecting different bars of data on the histogram displays the number of volumes selected to collapse and the number of volumes remaining after collapse. This selection also forms a corresponding selection in the table of data on the left side of the dialog; from here, it is possible to preview the selection on the modeller view or collapse the selected volumes. When previewing your selection, the volumes to be collapsed will appear in dark red on the modelling interface.
