Import From Dips
Grid Data, Mean Set Planes, or User Planes can be imported from Dips to define the Dip and Dip Directions in the Define Measured Joints dialog.
Dips is a program for the graphical and statistical analysis of orientation data using stereonets, available from Rocscience - click here for more information.
To import Orientation data directly from Dips:
- Select Import Dips button from the Define Measured Joints dialog.
- In the Open file dialog, select a Dips file (.dip, .dips6. .dips7, .dips8) and click Open to load the file.
- In the Import From Dips dialog:
- Select the Planes to Import (Grid Data, User Planes, Mean Set Planes).
- Select Overwrite Existing Measured Joint Data to overwrite any existing rows in the Define Measured Joints dialog with the imported data. Otherwise, the imported data is appended to any existing rows.
- Click OK to import the data.
If X, Y, Z and Radius data is not available from the Dips file, then these will have to be manually populated in order to define the Measured Joints.
