Randomize Synthetic Joint Realization
With any Statistical Distributions (i.e., Distribution is NOT None) applied to the selected Synthetic Joint Property, when adding or editing a Synthetic Joint Set, the sampling of the joints only represents one given realization of the joints' Orientation, Radius, and Spacing using the default pseudo-random seed.
To generate another realization of the Synthetic Joint Set:
- Select an existing Synthetic Joint Set or create a new one.
- In the Add/Edit Synthetic Joint Set dialog:
- Click the Randomize button. A random pseudo-random seed is set when sampling the joints and the preview shows the newly generated synthetic joints.
- To view to Random Seed value, select the drop down arrow beside the Randomize button and select Edit Random Seed.
- The Edit Random Seed dialog shows the Random Seed value. Given the same Synthetic Joint Property, Traverse polyline inputs, and Random Seed value, the sampling of the joints would be identical and reproducible.
- Enter your own Random Seed.
- Click OK.
- To reset back to the default Random Seed, select the drop down arrow beside the Randomize button and select Reset Random Seed (the default Random Seed = 10116).
The Randomize button is only enabled if Statistical Distributions exist for the selected Synthetic Joint Property. - Click OK to finalize the Joint Realization.
