Analysis Type

In the General tab of the Project Settings dialog, you may choose either Deterministic or Probabilistic for the Analysis Type.

Deterministic Analysis

For a Deterministic analysis, it is assumed that all input parameters are "exactly" known. This results in a unique solution for all output parameters (e.g. final tunnel convergence, plastic zone radius, safety factor).

Probabilistic Analysis

For a Probabilistic Analysis, you may define statistical distributions for any or all of the tunnel and rock parameters entered in the Tunnel and Rock Parameters dialog. In this case, statistical distributions of the input parameters will be generated, which results in statistical distributions of the output parameters. A mean factor of safety and probability of failure for the support system is calculated.
