Compute Kinematics
The second and final compute step is to compute the removability, forces, and factor of safety for each of the valid blocks.
To compute the block kinematics:
- Ensure that the Compute workflow tab is the active workflow
- Select Analysis > Compute Kinematics or click the Compute Kinematics icon in the toolbar.
The Compute Kinematics dialog will indicate the progress of the limit equilibrium analysis.
If the Compute Kinematics option is disabled, then the model is incomplete and cannot be computed. For example:
- If Compute Blocks is not run
- If Compute Blocks yields no valid blocks
Kinematic Results
By default, after Compute Kinematics is run, only Removable Blocks are shown. Once Compute Kinematics is run, all block information is available, and the following Interpret menu options are enabled:
- Block Information
- Detailed Block Information
- Contour Blocks
- Translate Selected Blocks
Results Sets for Removable Blocks and Failed Blocks (FS < Design FS) can only be applied once Compute Kinematics is run since removability and factor of safety of blocks are only known once kinematics are computed.
