Trim Joints
The Trim Joints feature allows users to trim away portions of joints outside the selected external volume(s). This allows users to more accurately model geological structures in situations where they terminate or are interrupted within a rock mass (e.g., within an overburden layer, or soil layer, or to model different fractured materials).
The
Trim Joints option can be selected after defining the External volume
and Joints (including Measured Joints, Synthetic Joints, and/or Joint
Surfaces from Add Joint Surface).
To Trim Joints:
- Select the Joints workflow tab
- Select Joints > Trim Joints
- The Select Joints dialog appears. In the Select Joints for Trimming window, select one or more joints and click Next.
- The Select Volumes dialog appears. In the Select Volumes to Trim Joints window, select one or more volumes to trim the joints with and click OK.
The Trimmed joints nodes are added to the Visibility Tree and drawn in the 3D CAD View.
Deleting Trimmed Joints
To remove the trim joints operation on any given joint node, select the Delete button beside the joint node in the Visibility Tree. The trimming is reverted and the joint nodes reflect the previous (untrimmed) joint geometry.
