Define Material Statistics
In order to define Material Properties as Random Variables:
- Select Statistics > Define Material Statistics . This will display the Joint Material Statistics dialog.
- Choose the Material Property that you wish to define with Random Variable(s) form the listed Joint Properties
- For the selected Material Property:
- Click the Add button to add random variables.
- Select the row(s) and click Delete button to delete random variables.
- In the Add Random Variables dialog:
- Select any parameters that you wish to set as a Random Variable
- Select the Distribution (e.g., Normal, Uniform, Triangular, Beta, Exponential, Lognormal, Gamma) for the selected Random Variables.
- Click OK to add them to the selected Material Property.
- The Distribution and Mean values can be modified for any Property.
- To finish defining the Random Variable(s), set the Std. Dev. (if applicable) and Rel. Min. and/or Rel. Max. to non-zero values for all Properties.
- Click OK to save the changes.
The Joint Material Statistics dialog can also be accessed through the Define Materials dialog by selecting the Statistics button.
Rel.
Min. and Rel. Max. are relative to the Mean and are not the absolute
range values. The absolute range is (Mean - Rel. Min.) to (Mean + Rel.
Max.)
Random Variable Properties
The following parameters can be modeled as random variables:
- Unit Weight
- Ru Value (if Groundwater Method = Ru Coefficient)
