Show Yielded Liners
If your model contains Liners, the display of yielded (failed) liner elements can be turned on or off with the Show Yield option. This can be accessed through the toolbar, right-click or main menu:
- Toolbar shortcut - select the Show Yielded Liners toolbar button.
- Right-click shortcut - right-click on any liner and select Yielded Liners from the popup menu.
- Show Yield Dialog - select the Liners check box in the Show Yield dialog. The Show Yield dialog is available from the Show Yield sub-menu of the Analysis menu.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Liners can only yield if the Liner Material Type = Plastic in the Define Liner Properties dialog. If the Liner Material Type = Elastic, then the Liner cannot fail, and liner yielding cannot be displayed in the RS2 Interpret program.
Display of Yielded Liners
When the display of Yielded Liners is turned ON, any liner elements which have failed will be highlighted in red.
Note that an individual liner element corresponds to one edge of a finite element, and not necessarily a whole boundary line segment, which in general will consist of several elements. A liner element in RS2 is also referred to as a "beam" or "beam element" since liners are modeled using beam elements on the excavation boundaries.
Yielded liner elements are displayed in red
For a description of the plasticity (yielding) algorithm used for liner (beam) elements in RS2, see the Liner Yielding document in the theory section.
