Material Query Overview
A material query in RS2 is a user-defined line or polyline defined within the rock or soil mass, along which data is interpolated from the contour plots at user-defined intervals. After a query is created the data can be:
- graphed
- displayed directly on the model
- copied to the clipboard
- saved to a file
A query can be created in various ways:
- With the Add Material Query option, the user can enter an arbitrary point, line or polyline, to obtain data at any location.
- The Query Boundary option allows you to select a boundary, and create a query exactly on the boundary, or at a user-specified offset from the boundary.
- The Query Excavation option automatically creates query polylines along all excavated regions of the model.
- A single "point" Query can automatically be created at each node of the finite element mesh, with the Query All Nodes option.
- The Add Node Reaction Query option allows you to display the X and Y reaction forces at restrained boundary nodes.
NOTE:
- After creating a Query, as you select different data to view (e.g. Sigma 1, Strength Factor, Displacement), OR select the Stage Tabs, the queried values automatically get updated to correspond to the contoured data. The queried values always correspond to the contoured data and stage currently being viewed.
- The values generated by a Query are true interpolated values, and are NOT simply the nearest nodal values.
- Queries are automatically saved with the RS2 file, and are automatically read back in when a RS2 file is opened in Interpret.
- Queries can be imported and exported using the Import / Export options in the File menu.
