Preferences

The Preferences dialog in the File menu is used to set various global analysis and interface parameters for the RS2 model program. The options include:

Author / Company

If you enter an Author and Company name in the Preferences dialog, these will be used as the default names in the Project Summary tab of the Project Settings dialog. The Author and Company appear in the Report Generator summary and can be added to print output.

Custom Title Block Folder

This allows you to choose a folder where user-defined custom title blocks are stored, for customized print output.

Use multi-core processing for compute engine

If this check box is selected, the compute engine will use all available cores for parallel processing on multi-core computers, which will increase computation speed compared to single core processing.

Automatic Liner Removal

This check box determines the default status of automatic liner removal, if a liner has been excavated on both sides. See the Automatic Liner Removal topic for details.

Prompt to save in uncompressed (.fea) format

By default, RS2 uses a compressed zip file format (*.fez filename extension) to store all input and output files for a given RS2 model. If you wish to save model files in the original uncompressed (*.fea) format, you can select this check box in Preferences. If this check box is selected, you will be prompted by default to save RS2 models and analysis results in the original uncompressed format.

Show Tabs for Multiple Windows

If this check box is selected, tabs will be displayed at the bottom of the application window, when you have multiple files and / or multiple windows open for each file. This allows you to easily switch between different files and / or windows, by selecting the desired tab. If you do not wish the tabs to be displayed then clear this check box.

Mouse wheel zoom at mouse pointer

This option determines the focal point of the mouse wheel zoom. If this check box is selected then the mouse wheel zoom will be centred at the current mouse pointer (cursor) location. If this check box is cleared, then the mouse wheel zoom will be at the centre of the view.

DXF arc discretizations

If you are importing a DXF file into RS2, this option determines the number of linear segments into which arc entities will be automatically discretized. See the DXF Import topic for more information.

DXF epsilon

If you are importing a DXF file into RS2, this value determines a tolerance limit for merging closely spaced vertices of the same boundary type. See the DXF Import topic for more information.

Restore all warning / message dialogs

If you select the Reset button, this will restore the display of all warning or message dialogs which may have been turned off by the user.
