Import Examine2D File

The Import Examine2D File option allows you to import an Examine2D model into RS2. Examine2D is a 2D boundary element stress analysis program previously available from Rocscience.

To import an Examine2D model into RS2:

1. In the RS2 Model program, select Import Examine2D from the Import sub-menu of the File menu.
2. You will see an Open File dialog. Select the Examine2D file that you wish to import, and select Open. Examine2D files have an .exa filename extension.
3. The Examine2D boundaries, material properties and field stress will be imported into RS2.
4. The external boundary and the finite element mesh will be automatically generated by RS2.

Examine2D models are relatively simple. Only a single material, excavation boundaries and field stress are defined. When you import an Examine2D model, RS2 will automatically generate an external boundary and the finite element mesh. You can edit the model after import if necessary.

Import an Examine2D File with the Open File Option

An Examine2D file can also be imported with the Open file option in the File menu.

1. Select File > Open in the RS2 Model program.
2. In the Open File dialog, set Files of Type = Examine2D File Format (*.exa).
3. Select the Examine2D file that you wish to import, and select Open.
