Compute Overview

The Compute menu allows the user to select the type of analysis to conduct on the model.

Shear Strength Reduction (SSR) Analysis

If the SSR analysis is enabled in the Project Settings, the user can use the following options:

• Set SSR Area: Create any number of regions in the model. SSR analysis will only be conducted on the material in the defined regions.
• Set SSR Exclusion Area: Create any number of regions in the model. SSR analysis will only be conducted on the material outside of the defined regions.

Compute Analysis

To compute the results, you can use the following options:

• Compute: Computes the stress and groundwater seepage analysis for your model
• Compute (Groundwater Only): Only computes the groundwater seepage analysis for your model

Each time a RS3 analysis is computed, a LOG file (*.log) is created which summarizes a few key analysis parameters from the finite element analysis (e.g. number of iterations, convergence history etc).

Compute Recovery

If an RS3 analysis is interrupted either manually or automatically, computed data may be saved as recovery files, which allows the computation to resume from the last completed stage. See the Compute Recovery topic for more information.
