Add Dynamic Loads
Dynamic (time-dependent) loading on boundaries can be defined in terms of displacement, force, velocity or acceleration versus time. Before you can add a dynamic load to a RS3 model, you must first define the load(s). See the Define Dynamic Loads topic for details.
Project Settings
Ensure that the Dynamic Analysis checkbox is enabled in Project Settings and enter the dynamic setup parameters.
Add Dynamic Load
To add a dynamic load to a model:
- Select the Dynamic workflow tab
- Select Faces Selection , Edges Selection or Vertices Selection in the Selection Mode depending on the boundary you want to apply the load.
- Select faces, edges or vertices to apply the load. You can only select one type of boundary at a time per load.
- Select the Add Dynamic Loads option from the toolbar or the Dynamic menu. You will see the Add Dynamic Load dialog.
- Select a Dynamic Property (i.e. a dynamic load that you have already defined in the Dynamic Load Properties dialog). Select the pencil icon to open the Dynamic Load Properties dialog and add or edit a dynamic loads. Loads may be defined as the following function types:
- Force
- Displacement
- Velocity
- Acceleration.
- If the load is a Displacement function, you can select the Apply Transmit BC checkbox.
- Staging - you can choose the Install stage, and (optional) Remove Stage for the dynamic load function.
- Select OK in the Add Dynamic Load dialog.
- The load function will be applied to the selected boundaries as indicated by the display of orange arrows applied in the direction defined by the load function.
Display of Dynamic Loads
Dynamic loads are displayed as orange arrows applied in the direction defined by the load function, and they are only displayed if:
- The Dynamic workflow tab is selected.
- The dynamic load is applied at the stage currently being viewed.
