Saving a File
Save and Save With File Size Optimizations
The model can be saved at any point by selecting the Save option from the toolbar or File menu. In the File menu, there are two options to save:
- Save
- Save With File Size Optimizations
Both options save all modelling entities, which includes geometry, support, mesh, restraints, etc. The Save option writes to a file as quickly as possible to save time, but without optimizing for a reduced file size. The Save With File Optimizations option takes longer to save than the Save option, but will reduce the file size considerably.
Save As
This option saves all modelling entities into a designated file location using the same algorithm as the Save option which writes to the file as quickly as possible without optimizing for a reduced file size.
Save Compute File
This option saves the compute file that is sent to the computational engine to calculate results. A compute file is a translation of the modelling entities to an input file format that can be read by the engine. Note that when you Compute the model, the program automatically saves a compute file if one does not exist or there were changes to the model. The compute file locates in the same folder as the model file, with extension *.rs3compute.
