Liner Local Coordinates Overview
RS3 uses a Cartesian x,y,z coordinate system (see here). In general, models and results are displayed in the global coordinate system. Here, RS3 allows users to view liner results in a local coordinate system.
Liner local coordinates are available only when liners are added to the model. The following two methods are provided to define liner local coordinates under menu Support > Liners:
To view and interpret liner results in local coordinate, please see RS3 Liner Contour Results - Liner Local Coordinate Results.
Adding local coordinates will not affect computed results.
Both global and local coordinate systems are right-handed Cartesian coordinates. The right thumb points along the z axis in the positive direction and the curl of the fingers represents a motion from the x axis to the y axis.
See the RS3 Liner Local Coordinate tutorial for an example. The tutorial uses Define Liner Local Coordinates for Tunnels to define a liner local coordinate system.
