Material Legend

In some cases you may want to add a page to your borehole logs with a list of material types (and their hatch patterns) as well as sample types used in your borehole log. This page provides step-by-step instructions to generate this:

Legend of Material Types

You can export the list of all materials and their associated hatch patterns to an Excel file. This Excel file can then be formatted based on your company standards and be attached to the test hole logs. An example is shown below:

Follow these steps to generate your customizable material types legend:

1. Go to Settings page > Hatch Design tab,
2. Click the tab corresponding to the desired classification system (USCS, AASHTO, AGS, ROCK),
3. Click Export button and select Material Legend (Excel) menu. This will generate a Microsoft Excel file with all hatch patterns, classification codes and standard material descriptions for selected classification system.
4. Feel free to customize the Excel file and/or transfer the contents to your standard legend sheet.

Legend of Sample Types

A similar legend can be prepared for sample types and their icons and symbols. To do this, please follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings page > Field Investigation tab > Sampling and Boring tab,
2. From the toolbar of the Sample Types table, click Export button and select Soil Types Legend (Excel) menu. This will generate a Microsoft Excel file with all sample types, symbols and icons.
3. Feel free to customize the Excel file and/or transfer the contents to your standard legend sheet.

Attaching the Legend Sheet to Your Logs

1. Go to Test Hole Logs page,
2. Click the checkbox "Add Customized Legend Sheet to the Log",
3. Click the cogwheel button next to the "Select PDF File" dropdown,
4. In the new dialog, upload your PDF file,
5. Click Generate Log button and your customized legend sheet will be automatically attached to all borehole logs.
