Basic Cross Sections

The three basic cross section types offered for Lateral and Axial pile analyses in RSPile are:

  • Circle
  • Rectangle
  • Pipe

Tapering is available for these cross sections if the specified type is Elastic. Note that the program assumes that the entire length of the pile is tapered.

CIRCLE

For circular piles, only the Diameter is required.

To model an elastic tapered circular pile, this is done through the Edit Pile Types dialog.

RECTANGLE

The following input parameters are required for rectangular piles:

  • Section Width
  • Section Depth

To model an elastic tapered rectangular pile, this is done through the Edit Pile Types dialog.

PIPE

The following input parameters are required for pipe piles:

  • Pile Outside Diameter
  • Pipe Wall Thickness

To model an elastic tapered pipe pile, this is done through the Edit Pile Types dialog.
