Casing/Core
The Casing/Core tab of the Concrete Designer is used to define the casing thickness and core diameter of the section.
CASING
For concrete piles with casings, the following must be defined:
- Casing Thickness - the casing thickness does not affect the overall pile dimensions, the thickness increases inwards from the defined perimeter of the section.
- Yield Stress of Casing
- Elastic Modulus of Casing
You can also specify the length of the casing if the pile is not fully cased. Simply check the Length of Casing checkbox and enter the length.
CORE
For concrete piles with cores, the following must be defined:
- Core Diameter - this is the outside diameter of the core
- Wall Thickness - measured inwards from the defined outer perimeter of the core
- Yield Stress of Core
- Elastic Modulus of Core
Using the Filled Core checkbox you can also specify whether or not the core is hollow or filled with concrete.
If the core intersects the defined reinforcement an "invalid Bars" error message will appear, and the affected reinforcement will be highlighted.
