Groundwater

Unit weight: The assumed density of water for porewater-related calculations

Wall base porewater pressure based on:

  • Averaged
  • Back of wall
  • Front of wall

If a front-of-wall static groundwater elevation is defined and different from the back-of-wall static groundwater elevation, the porewater pressure acting on the base of the wall will be assumed based on either the conditions at the back (heel) of the wall, front (toe) of the wall, or averaged from both cases, depending on the selection.

The assumed value of porewater pressure is assumed to act uniformly along the base of the wall. Note that this simplifies the effect of seepage on the actual porewater pressure distribution at the base of the structure.
