Mirror and Close
The Mirror and Close option allows you to automatically close a boundary you are defining, with a mirror image of the current polyline. This allows you to define half of a symmetric boundary, and then complete the remainder with a single mouse click. You may find this convenient if you are defining a complicated symmetric boundary with many vertices.
Mirror and Close is applicable for modelling options such as Add Polygonal Load, Add Excavation and can also be used with some of the Drawing Tools (e.g. Polyline, Polygon, Pencil).
To use Mirror and Close:
- Select an applicable option (e.g. Add Polygonal Load).
- Enter exactly one-half of the boundary polyline, such that the first vertex and the current (last) vertex you have entered, lie on the axis of symmetry of the boundary.
- Right-click the mouse and select Mirror and Close from the popup menu. The boundary will be automatically closed with a mirror image of the current polyline.
- The axis of symmetry can be at any orientation in the Plan View (it does not have to be aligned with the X and Y axes). The axis of symmetry is represented by a straight line through the first vertex and the current (last) vertex you have entered. Experiment with this option to see how it works.
- At least three vertices must be entered before the Mirror and Close option is enabled.
