Water Grids
In Settle3, any number of groundwater grids can be defined, and the grids can be applied at different stages.
To define a Groundwater Grid:
- Select Groundwater > Edit (Pressure Grid)
- Enter the x,y-locations and water table depth values, and click OK to close the dialog.
- Select Groundwater > Soil Groundwater Properties
- Select which materials you want to assign the grid to, and click OK to close the dialog.
Grid points can be defined at any x,y-location, and can easily be assigned to the borehole locations by using the Import borehole locations option.
Groundwater Grid dialog in Settle3
At each grid point, you enter a water depth. Between grid points the water level is interpolated, and there are five interpolation methods available:
- Inverse Distance
- Thin-Plate Spline
- Chugh
- Local Thin-Plate Spline
- TIN Triangulation
See the Interpolation Methods topic for more information.
Groundwater grids can also be imported or exported. Supported file formats include *.pwp, *.txt, *.csv, and *.prn files.
Excavations
For information on how excavations affect the groundwater distribution defined using a Water Grid, see the Excavations and Groundwater topic.
