Units
Under the General tab in the Project Settings dialog, you can choose the Units that you wish to use for Stress, Settlement, Time and Permeability.
Stress Units
The Stress Unit options are:
- Metric units - MPa, kPa, tonnes/m2
- Imperial units - ksf, tons/ft2
The selected Stress Units determine the units of stress, length, force used in the analysis, as summarized in the table below.
Stress Units | Length | Force | Stress | Unit Weight |
Metric (stress as MPa) | meters | MN | MPa | MN/m3 |
Metric (stress as kPa) | meters | kN | kPa | kN/m3 |
Metric (stress as tonnes/m2) | meters | tonnes (1000 kg) | tonnes/m2 | tonnes/m3 |
Imperial (stress as tons/ft2) | feet | tons (2000 lbs) | tons/ft2 | tons/ft3 |
Imperial (stress as ksf) | feet | kips | ksf | kips/ft3 |
Settlement Units
The Settlement Units determine the units used for the output of settlement/consolidation results. The Settlement Unit options are:
- Metric units - meters, centimeters, millimeters
- Imperial units - feet, inches
The available Settlement Units will vary according to the selection of Stress Unit (metric or imperial).
Time Units
The Time Units can only be specified if the Time-Dependent Consolidation Analysis checkbox is selected. The Time Unit options are:
- Seconds
- Minutes
- Days
- Months
- Years
- Date
See the Time-Dependent Consolidation topic for more information.
Permeability Units
The Permeability Units can be specified if the Time-Dependent Consolidation Analysis checkbox is selected.
The Permeability Units determine the input units for K or Cv in the Soil Properties dialog.
