Sectioning Tools

The Section Export to Slide2 feature allows you to capture any 2D section of a Slide3 model, and generate a Slide2 file from the section. All material properties and material assignments will be preserved from the 3D model. This allows you to easily perform a 2D analysis on any 2D section of a Slide3 model.

Section Creation

1. Open a Slide3 model.
2. Select View > Slide2 Section Creator. Or, Geometry > Sectioning Tools > Slide2 Section Creator. If results exist, sections can also quickly be made by going to Interpret > Create 2D Sections through Global Minimums.
3. Select the icons in the top left corner of the dialog to add either a Single Section (), Single section(s) through global mins (only enabled if results exist), or Multiple sections.
4. For a single section, you can specify a section plane at any location or angle by entering values for the U and V coordinates, and the Strike angle.
5. For the Multi-Section group, you can draw a polyline on the Plan View and select different section generation methods to create sections along the polyline Methods include:
   • Create by the total number of sections
   • Create at each vertex
   • Create on each segment
6. Select OK to accept and close the Slide2 Section Creator. All the sections you defined will be added to the model.
