Shear/Normal Function
A Shea /Normal Strength Function allows you to define a general non-linear Mohr-Coulomb strength envelope for a material.
To define a Shear/Normal Strength Function:
- Set the Failure Criterion = Shear/Normal Function in the Material Properties dialog.
- Select the Edit button beside the shear/normal function combo box.
- You will see the Define Shear/Normal Function dialog.
- To edit an existing shear/normal function, select the Function Name from the list at the left of the dialog.
- To create a new shear/normal function, select the Add button at the lower-left corner of the dialog, and enter a Function Name.
- Enter or edit the Normal and Shear data pairs which define your Shear/Normal Function. As the data is entered, it will be plotted in the graph area at the right of the dialog.
- When all data points have been entered, select OK, and you will be returned to the Material Properties dialog. The Name of the function you have just defined will appear in the Shear / Normal Function list. By selecting a Function Name from this list, you can now apply a Shear/Normal Function to any material in the model.
You can use the buttons at the top of the data entry grid to help carry out the editing of the data (i.e. insert row, remove row, copy, paste etc)
Add/Delete Function
To create a new shear/normal function or delete an existing one use the Add/Delete buttons below the function list in the Define Shear Normal Function dialog.
Import/Export
Shear/Normal Functions can be Imported or Exported as a text file using the Import / Export buttons at the bottom of the Shear/Normal function dialog.
