Regions of Interest Settings
If you are using the Intelligent Search option to search for critical slip surfaces, then a Regions of Interest may be generated by the user. This is done with the Regions of Interest Settings option.
A Region of Interest is an area on the surface of the model which is identified by the engine, using a new formula for initializing solutions in the search space. They can help to identify critical regions in the model before a full computation.
The Regions of Interest option only generates spline slip surfaces. It does not work with ellipsoids or other shapes.
- Select the Slip Surfaces   workflow tab.
- Select Surfaces > Regions of Interest > Regions of Interest Settings.
- In the ROI Generation dialog, select the Search refinement level (this defines the thoroughness of the search). If User-Defined is selected, Minimum number of preliminary surfaces can also be modified. These are all settings that should have been previously selected in the Surface Options dialog but can also be edited here.
- Select Analyze to generate the regions.
- OK will become enabled once analysis is performed.
