Search Planes Overview

Search Planes are only applicable if the Surface Type = Multi-Planar in the Slip Surface Options dialog.

Adding Search Planes

Search Planes are defined with the Add Search Planes option. Generally, you will need at least two intersecting planes to generate slip surfaces.

Search Methods

The search planes are used to form wedge-type failure surfaces, using the selected Search Method (Cuckoo Search or Particle Swarm).

The Surface Altering Optimization option is NOT available if the Surface Type = Multi-Planar. If you are using search planes then it is assumed that you wish to analyze wedge-type failure surfaces.
