Use Slope Dip Direction
The Use Slope Dip Direction check box in the Input Data dialog, can be used to ensure that the Dip Direction of the Upper Face is automatically set equal to the Dip Direction of the Slope Face.
The primary purpose of this option is to allow you to carry out a Sensitivity Analysis of the slope orientation (if the Dip of the Upper Face is non-zero).
For example:
- Select Analysis Type = Deterministic.
- Select the Use Slope Dip Direction check box (under the Slope tab in the Input Data dialog).
- Select the Sensitivity Analysis option and select Slope Dip Direction as a variable.
- Enter the range of Slope Dip Direction you would like to analyze, and select OK.
- The slope orientation will be varied through the range of values, and the Upper Face Dip Direction will automatically be set equal to the Slope Face Dip Direction.
- The resulting sensitivity plot allows you to easily determine the most critical slope orientations (e.g. for open pit mine slopes).
The Use Slope Dip Direction option can also be used for a Probabilistic Analysis if the Dip Direction of the slope is a random variable.
