Picked Wedges
After a Probabilistic Analysis is computed, the Mean Wedges are initially displayed. It is possible to view ANY WEDGE arrangement generated by the Probabilistic Analysis, as described below.
- If you double-click the LEFT mouse button anywhere on a Histogram, Cumulative, or Scatter plot, the nearest corresponding wedge from the plot, will be displayed in the Wedge View. This is referred to as a Picked Wedge.
- When you select a Picked Wedge, the Sidebar and all views of the current document will be updated to display the results for the Picked Wedge. For example, the Info Viewer will be updated to display the results for the selected wedge.
Example:
- Generate a Factor of Safety Histogram.
- Double-click on the Histogram at any desired Factor of Safety (for example, Factor of Safety = 1).
- Now, look at the 3D Wedge View. A new wedge arrangement will be displayed, corresponding to the point (along the X-axis of the Histogram) at which you clicked. This is an actual wedge arrangement generated by the Probabilistic Analysis.
- Look at the Sidebar or the Info Viewer. The wedge data corresponds to the "Picked" wedge you are viewing.
- This example applies to Histograms or Scatter plots of any Data Type (i.e., Wedge Weight, Input Data variables, etc.), not just Factor of Safety plots.
This feature is meant to give you a general idea of the shape and orientation of wedges corresponding to locations on a Histogram or Scatter plot. For example, on a Factor of Safety Histogram, you will probably want to double-click in the "red" Factor of Safety region, to see the wedges with a Factor of Safety < 1.
TIP: Use the Tile options in the Windows menu to tile views, so that you can immediately see the picked wedge data displayed when you double-click on a Histogram or Scatter plot.
Resetting the Mean Wedge
To reset the Wedge View so that the mean wedge is displayed, select Show Mean Wedges from the View menu. This will re-display the wedges corresponding to the mean Probabilistic Input Data. All other views will also be reset to display the mean wedge data (e.g., Info Viewer).
