Stereonet View
The Stereonet view provides a lower hemisphere, stereographic projection of the joint orientations and tunnel axis you have defined for the analysis. The joints appear as great circles on the stereonet, and the tunnel axis appears as a straight (dotted) line indicating the trend, and a cross marker on the line to indicate the plunge. This allows you to graphically review and check the orientation data which you have entered for the analysis.
You can access the Stereonet View at any time by:
- Selecting the Stereonet view from the drop-down menu on the toolbar
- Selecting Stereonet from the Select View sub-menu of the View menu.
Sidebar Options
For the Stereonet view, the following options are available in the Sidebar:
The Joint Orientations and Tunnel Axis Orientation can also be defined through the Input Data dialog. These options are made available in the Sidebar as alternative shortcuts which you may find convenient.
Stereonet Projection Type
The default stereonet projection type is Equal Angle projection. However, an Equal Area projection can also be selected. The stereonet projection type is specified under the General tab of the Display Options dialog.
Show Unused Joints on Stereonet
Although only three Joint Orientations can be selected at any one time and used in the UnWedge analysis, it is possible to have additional, "unused" Joint Orientations defined in the Input Data dialog. For example, if you have read in a set of Joint Orientations from a Dips file.
If you wish, you can show or hide any "unused" joints on the stereonet, by toggling the Show Unused Joints option. This is available under the General tab of the Display Options dialog, and also in the right-click menu on the Stereonet View. Unused joints are displayed in light grey on the stereonet.
