Simple Bolt Force
With the Simple Bolt Force model, the specified Force is always applied to the wedge in the direction of the bolt orientation.
- The force is applied regardless of the orientation of the bolt with respect to the wedge planes, and it does not matter whether the bolt intersects a shearing plane or a dilating plane.
- The full force is always used (i.e., Bolt Efficiency is not specified).
- Shear force is not considered.
- The orientation of the force is always in the direction of the bolt.
The Simple Bolt Force model is useful if you simply want to apply a known force to a wedge in a known direction. This could be used to model support, or an arbitrary line load applied to a wedge.
