Adding an Opening Section
The first step in creating an UnWedge model (after setting any necessary Project Settings) is to create the Opening Section boundary.
To define the Opening Section boundary:
- First, make sure you have selected the Opening Section View (select the Opening Section View option from the drop-down menu on the toolbar).
- Use the View Limits option to set the initial drawing limits of the view.
- Select Add Opening Section from the toolbar, the Boundaries menu, or the right-click menu.
- Enter the vertices of the boundary as described in Entering Coordinates.
- If you need to define an arc segment or a complete circle, this can easily be done. See the Drawing Arc Segment topic for details.
- If you make a mistake while entering coordinates, you can undo vertices during coordinate entry, with the undo command (type u in the prompt line or select Undo from the right-click menu).
- Coordinates can also be entered into a convenient table, in which you may type coordinates directly, or import coordinates from an existing file or spreadsheet.
- The Opening Section boundary must always be closed. To close the boundary, after all, vertices are entered, right-click and select Close Boundary, or you can type c and ENTER in the prompt line. This automatically and correctly closes the Opening Section boundary and saves the user the trouble of having to re-enter the first vertex to complete the boundary.
The Opening Section can also be imported directly into UnWedge from a DXF file. See the Import DXF File topic for details.
