Wedge Visibility
The Wedge Visibility option allows you to select which wedges are visible around the excavation. This is useful during the design phase of the analysis, so that you may concentrate on any single wedge or set of wedges, and hide the wedges which are not of concern.
The Wedge Visibility option is available in the Sidebar for the following views:
- 3D Wedge View
- Front, Perspective View
- Perimeter Support Design
- End Support Design (End Wedge Visibility)
All Wedges
The All Wedges option displays all of the possible wedges calculated by UnWedge. This includes all Perimeter Wedges, and both End Wedges (if Compute End Wedges is turned on in Project Settings dialog).
Perimeter Wedges
This will display only the Perimeter Wedges (and hide the End Wedges).
End Wedges
This will display only the End Wedges (and hide the Perimeter Wedges).
Individual Wedges
To view any individual wedge, and hide all other wedges, select the desired wedge from the Wedge Visibility drop-down list. Wedges are identified by name, number and colour. All other wedges will be hidden, except for the selected wedge.
TIP: In the 3D Wedge View, you may right-click on a wedge to toggle the visibility for that particular wedge (select the wedge name from the popup menu).
FOS < Design
The FOS < Design option allows you to automatically display only the wedges which have a Factor of Safety less than the Design Factor of Safety. The Design Factor of Safety is entered in the Input Data dialog.
User Defined
The User Defined option allows you to select any combination of visible wedges.
To use this option:
- Set Wedge Visibility = User Defined.
- You will see a dialog button
(three dots) appear beside the Wedge Visibility drop-down list. Select this button and you will see the Select Visible Wedges dialog. - In the Select Visible Wedges dialog, use the checkboxes to select the wedges you would like to display.
- Select OK in the dialog, and only the selected wedges will be visible.
NOTE: The User Defined option will "remember" your selection in the Select Visible Wedges dialog, so that you may return to the option at any time, you do not have to select wedges each time. For example, if you change Wedge Visibility = All Wedges, and then return to Wedge Visibility = User Defined, your most recent User Defined selection of wedges, will still be displayed.
No Wedges
The No Wedges option will hide all wedges from view. This may be useful if you wish to view the excavation only with no wedges displayed.
End Wedge Visibility
The End Support Designer view has an End Wedge Visibility option which is independent of the Wedge Visibility option used for the 3D Wedge View and Perimeter Support Designer views. The End Wedge Visibility allows you to select which End Wedge is displayed in the End Support Designer View.
