Meet RocSlope2, Your One-Stop Solution for Rock Slope Analysis

Published on: Aug 22, 2024 Updated on: Aug 23, 2024 Read: 5 minutes

What if you could streamline your wedge, planar, and toppling analyses into a single, powerful program? RocSlope2 just launched to make that dream a reality.

Our groundbreaking new software allows you to identify various failure modes — like structural, toppling, and planar — all within a single tool for deeper analysis. And with centralized data storage, all your information is managed seamlessly in one platform.

It's also packed with new tools that facilitate collaboration, improve data sharing with other Rocscience programs, and integrate diverse data sets, making it especially useful in environments like open-pit mines and in civil engineering projects like road cuts.

Get ready to streamline your workflow, save valuable time, and maximize your resources with RocSlope2.

With RocSlope2, You Can:

Analyze complex geological structures: Finding potential failures can be difficult when geological structures are intricate. RocSlope2 provides a comprehensive 3D analysis of joint intersections and slope formations, so you can quickly identify and repair problems. And with Stereonet View, you can better visualize joint and slope orientation data and their intersections.

Conduct probabilistic analysis: RocSlope2 streamlines the creation and analysis of rock slope models. You can create thousands of different RocPlane, SWedge and RocTopple models all at once, then determine the probability of failure of all failure modes.

Apply bolt patterns automatically: Identifying potential wedge, planar, and toppling failures is crucial in ensuring safety and efficiency in rock slope engineering projects. RocSlope2 considers all three possibilities for precise failure prediction, which helps engineers take preventative measures. And with automatic bolt pattern locating, you can quickly design support systems that account for multiple failure modes.

RocSlope2 in Action

Below are just a few of RocSlope2’s practical applications:

Bench design of open pit mines: RocSlope2 enables precise bench design by analyzing joint intersections and slope formations, ensuring stability and safety in open pit mining operations.

Stability analysis of road cuts: Ensure the stability of road cuts by utilizing RocSlope2’s 3D modeling capabilities to analyze potential failure modes and design appropriate support systems.

Support system design of open pit mines: Design effective support systems by predicting wedge, planar, and toppling failures, ensuring the safety and stability of mining operations.

Stability analysis of rock dams with ponded water and joint water pressure: Assess the stability of rock wedges formed by natural discontinuities along slopes and dam abutment, where ponded and joint water pressures play crucial role on their stability.

Designing Models in RocSlope2 is Easy

With RocSlope2’s refined and user-friendly interface, you can create detailed rock slope models in only a few clicks. In fact, you can make thousands of different RocPlane, SWedge and RocTopple models all at once, and in only a few minutes.

With the large number of results the software provides you’ll get better insights into the behaviour of the various failure modes. And with RocSlope2’s improved result visualization features, including result grid, detailed block results, scatter plots, histograms, cumulative plots, and Stereonet view, it’s easy to find the project information you need.

What Can I Do With RocSlope2?

  • Analyze the formation of 3D blocks from the combination of joint intersections and a rock slope.
  • Streamline the assessment of wedge, planar, and toppling failures.
  • Create thousands of different RocPlane, SWedge, and RocTopple models all at once in just a few minutes.
  • Conduct probabilistic analysis for determining the probability of failure of all failure modes.
  • Better visualize your results with several data display options: result grid, detailed block results, scatter plots, histograms, cumulative plots, and Stereonet view.

What's the Difference Between RocSlope2 and RocSlope3?

RocSlope3 is our 3D block stability risk assessment software for rock slopes that assesses the factors of safety of thousands of blocks in highly jointed rock masses, where failures are structurally controlled.

It can handle deeper analysis than RocSlope2, but also requires significantly more overhead, including building the 3D geometry and finding the locations of discontinuities.

On the other hand, RocSlope2 is designed for ease of use and speed. With less overhead, it allows you to conduct analyses in minutes rather than hours. This makes RocSlope2 a go-to choice when you need quick, reliable insights.

Both tools are valuable for engineers and can complement each other in your workflow. Start your kinematic design in software like Dips, move to RocSlope2 for rapid analysis, and if you need to dive even deeper, transition to RocSlope3 for more comprehensive 3D modelling and detailed assessments.
