Overview of Data Collectors
A Data Collector in RocFall is a line segment that gathers information about the rocks that pass through the line on their way down the slope. Data Collectors record the velocity, kinetic energy, vertical location, and horizontal location of all rocks that pass through it. Data Collectors are used when you want to determine information about a certain location but do not want to alter the paths the rocks take as they travel down the hill.
There is no restriction on the number of Data Collectors or where they can be placed. Data Collectors do not have any directionality (i.e., it doesn't matter which end is the starting point and which end is the ending point). Data collectors do not affect the movement of the rocks in any way.
Once the rocks have been thrown, you can view the information gathered by the data collector by graphing the results. You can also copy the data that was collected onto the clipboard and paste it into another program.
