Add Axes
The Axes option allows you to add horizontal / vertical axes, with x-y coordinates, anywhere on a view.
To add Axes:
- Select Add Axes from the Tools menu.
- Enter the first point graphically with the mouse, or enter x-y coordinates in the prompt line.(Snapping may be useful here).
- As you move the mouse, scaled horizontal / vertical axes will be drawn between the point entered in Step 2, and the current cursor location.
- Enter the second point graphically with the mouse, or enter x-y coordinates in the prompt line, and the Axes will be added to the view. By default, the Axes will initially display Global Coordinates corresponding to the coordinates of your model.
Tips:
- Left-click and hold the left mouse button down while moving the mouse to relocate the Axes.
- Double-click on the Axes to bring up the Format Tool dialog. In this dialog you can edit the Axes appearance, edit the Axes extents, etc.
- Use the check boxes in the Format Tools dialog to change the Axis Style (where the axes are shown: top, bottom, left, right).
- In the Format Tool dialog, check Custom axis spacing, then select Local Coordinates to set the Axes to Local Coordinates (lower left corner = 0,0). You can also specify custom horizontal and vertical spacings for the axis labels.
- You can also access the Format Tool dialog by selecting Format Tool in the right-click popup menu.
- In the Format Tool dialog, select Defaults and you can choose to make the current settings the default settings or you can restore the original program defaults.
- Right-click on the Axes to change the appearance of the Axes in the view (i.e. Bring to Front, Send to Back, etc.).
