Polyline
The Polyline option allows you to draw an arbitrary polyline consisting of any number of line segments, on the view. A Polyline can also be used to measure length.
To add a Polyline:
- Select Polyline from the Tools menu, or from the toolbar.
- Enter points graphically with the mouse, or enter x,y coordinates in the prompt line. (Snapping may be useful here).
- When you are finished, press Enter to add the Polyline to the view.
Length Measurement
A useful feature of the Polyline drawing tool option, is that the length of the polyline is automatically calculated, and can be displayed as a Data Tip. To view the length:
- Make sure the Data Tips option is on (either Min or Max).
- Hover the mouse over the Polyline, and the length of the Polyline will be displayed as a popup Data Tip.
This allows you to easily determine the length of an arbitrary Polyline in the view.
Tips:
- Double-click on the Polyline to bring up the Format Tool dialog. In this dialog you can edit the Polyline appearance. The line color, weight, and style can all be changed. selected one. Check the Apply to all Polylines check box to apply formatting to all Polylines.
- Right-click on the Polyline to change the appearance of the Polyline in the view (i.e. Bring to Front, Send to Back, etc.). You can also edit the coordinates.
