Starting a New Project
To start creating a new project with RocFall, select New from the File menu or the toolbar. A new blank project window will be opened in which you can start creating your model.
In general, you have to do the following things before entering your slope geometry:
- Select Limits from the View menu, to set the initial limits of your drawing region.
- Select Project Settings from the Analysis menu or the toolbar, so that you can configure the principal analysis parameters such as the analysis engine type (lump mass or rigid body), throw options, units, consideration of angular velocity (for lump mass engine), random number generation options, scaling functions, etc.
See the RocFall Quick Start Tutorial for a lesson on how to create a simple model with RocFall.
Preferences
Select Preferences in the File menu to open the Preferences dialog. In the Preferences dialog, you can:
- Change the toolbar button size from large to small.
- Change the default Author and Company names for new projects.
- Export selected settings from one computer for use on another in a settings archive file.
- Import settings from a settings archive file.
TIP: When RocFall is first started, you will always be presented with a new blank project window named "RocFall Model1". You can immediately start creating a model in this window. If you are not starting a new project, then simply open the file you want to work with, and the blank project window will be closed automatically
