Setting Display Options

Display Options Display Options icon is available in the toolbar, the View menu or the default right-click menu.

Display Options dialog

In the Display Options dialog you can customize display options for the slope, rock paths, barriers and other aspects of the view. The Display Options are grouped into the following tabs:

  • Slope
  • Rock Paths
  • Barriers
  • Miscellaneous

Display Options can be customized individually for each RocFall file. You may also customize or restore the default display options used for new files, with the Defaults option (see below).

Slope

  • Draw Slope Fill - this allows you to change the slope display from a line only to a line with fill underneath. The fill colour is determined by the material colour used for each slope segment. The transparency of the fill can be adjusted with the Slope Fill Transparency option. Moving the Slope Fill Transparency slider to the left darkens the fill while moving it to the right lightens the fill. At the far right side of the Slope Fill Transparency spectrum, the fill is no longer displayed.
  • Show Statistical Slope Variation (Results Mode) - if you are using Vertex Variation, Crest Loss or Slope Roughness, this option allows you to visualize the actual slope geometry generated by these statistical options, for all rock throws in Results mode. If this option is off, then only the original (mean) slope geometry is displayed; in this case, the rock paths may appear to bounce at points above or below the mean slope geometry.
  • Show Slope Vertices in Design Mode - this option allows you to show or hide the slope vertex markers (small white circles) in Design mode (by default this is on)
  • Show Slope Vertices in Results Mode - this option allows you to show or hide the slope vertex markers (small white circles) in Results mode (by default this is off)
  • Show Forest and Vegetation - if you are using the Forest/Vegetation Damping material property option, this allows you to show or hide the coloured/hatched areas representing slope segments with Forest Damping applied, and to customize the colour or hatch pattern.
  • Show Crest Loss - if you are using the Crest Loss option, this allows you to show or hide the defined crest loss in Design mode. You can choose to display the Max, Min or Mean statistically defined crest loss, and customize the colour or hatch pattern used.

Rock Paths

  • Regular Rock Path Thickness is the display thickness of all the rockfall results. Filtered or selected rocks will be displayed with the Selected Rock Path Thickness.
  • If Hide Rock Paths While Panning or Zooming (Results Mode) is selected, the rock path results will disappear when zooming or panning. De-select this option and the rock path results will always be visible when in Results Mode.
  • Show Rolling and Sliding on Rock Paths - this option will highlight rolling and sliding modes on the rock paths using the selected colour.

Barriers

  • Draw Barrier Height and Inclination - this option will display the height and inclination for each barrier in Design mode
  • Default Barrier Color - this determines the default colour used to display barriers; the colour of individual barriers can be customized in the Barrier Properties dialog
  • Barrier Line Width - this determines the line width used to display all barriers
  • Sensitivity Limit Color - if you are using Barrier Sensitivity Analysis, this determines the colour used to display the minimum and maximum limits of each barrier sensitivity variable
  • Sensitivity View - if you are using Barrier Sensitivity Analysis, this allows you to show All barriers generated by the analysis, or only the Min/Max values, or None (only the mean barrier will be displayed). Default is All.
  • Collector Color - this determines the colour used to display all collectors
  • Collector Line Width - this determines the line width used to display all collectors

Miscellaneous

  • Show Ruler - this will show or hide the ruler which is displayed at the left and bottom edge of the model view. You can also toggle the ruler on and off by selecting Ruler in the View menu. To change the ruler spacing select View > Custom Ruler Spacing and select a value from the list.
  • Black and White Background for Ruler - allows you to toggle between a grey and white background for the ruler
  • Show Coordinates of Last Vertex and Show Segment Length, Radius, and Angles options are available to assist you in drawing the slope. When these options are selected, the indicated values are displayed. Once the slope is drawn, the values are no longer shown.

Defaults

Selecting the Defaults button in the Display Options dialog allows you to either restore the original program defaults or make the current settings the default settings. This applies to all new files and does not affect existing files.
