User Data
The User Data option allows the user to create a mathematical expression, using the analysis input or output variables, and view the results of this function, contoured on the model.
To view contours of User Data:
- You must first define the User Data with the Define User Data option. See below for details.
- Once User Data has been defined, it will appear in the drop-down data list in the toolbar (after the basic data types). It can then be selected like any other data type (e.g. Pressure Head, Total Head etc), and a contour plot of the selected User Data will be generated.
Defining User Data
To create a new User Data definition:
- Select Define User Data from the toolbar or the Groundwater menu.
- Select the New button in the User Data dialog.
- You will see the Define User Data Equation dialog. This lists all of the variables and functions which are available for defining user data equations.
- Enter a Name for the Equation you will be creating.
- Enter an Equation using the available variables and functions. All of the available variables and functions are listed in the dialog. (See below for an example).
- Select OK in this dialog, and you will be returned to the User Data dialog. The Name of the Equation you just defined will appear in the list of Existing User Data.
- To plot the user data you have just defined, select the Display button.
Once User Data has been defined, it will appear in the drop-down data list in the toolbar (after the basic data types). It can then be selected like any other data type (e.g. Pressure Head, Total Head etc), and a contour plot of the selected User Data will be generated.
EXAMPLE:
- Select the New button in the User Data dialog.
- In the Define User Data Equation dialog, enter Elevation Head in the Name field.
- In the Equation field, type: th – ph
- Select OK.
- In the User Data dialog, Elevation Head will now appear in the list of Existing User Data, and its Equation will appear in the Equation field below the list.
- To plot Elevation Head, make sure it is highlighted in the list of Existing User Data, and select the Display button. A contour plot of Elevation Head will be generated (you should see horizontal contours on the model).
- Elevation Head will also now appear in the drop-down data list in the toolbar and can be selected for plotting at any time, like the basic data types.
Editing User Data
To Edit existing user data definitions:
- In the User Data dialog, select the Existing User Data you would like to modify. (Use the left mouse button or the up/down arrow keys to highlight a name in the Existing User Data list).
- Select the Edit button.
- The Define User Data Equation dialog will appear with the Name and Equation of the user data which you selected, already displayed.
- Edit the Name and/or Equation, and select OK. The changes will appear in the User Data dialog.
- Select Done or Display in the User Data dialog, to save the changes.
Deleting User Data
To delete existing user data definitions, use the Delete button in the Define User Data dialog.
