Copy Boundary
The Copy Boundary option can be used to create a copy of Material boundaries or Piezometric boundaries. You cannot create a copy of the External boundary, Water Table or Tension Crack boundary, because only ONE of these can be defined for a Slide2 model.
To use Copy Boundary:
- Select Boundaries > Edit > Copy from the menu.
- Use the mouse to select the boundary(s) you would like to copy.
- When you are finished selecting, press Enter or right-click and select Done Selection.
- You will then be prompted to enter a base point. Use the mouse or enter the x,y coordinates of the base point in the prompt line.
- After the base point is entered, if you move the mouse, you will see an outline of your selected boundary(s) following the mouse. Enter a second point with the mouse or the keyboard, and the boundary(s) will be copied to the new location.
You may select multiple boundaries if desired.
Tips
- To define a relative distance for the copy, enter {0,0} as the base point in the prompt line, and the relative distance as the second point. For example, if you wanted a copy of a boundary 5 meters above and 10 meters to the right of the original boundary, enter {0,0} as the base point, and {5,10} as the second point.
- If you do not know the relative distance, then you can enter a vertex of the original boundary as the base point, and the new coordinates of the equivalent vertex on the copied boundary, as the second point.
Right-Click Shortcut
Copy Boundary is also available as a right-click option for individual boundaries. This works as follows:
- Locate the cursor over a boundary that you wish to copy.
- Click the RIGHT mouse button, and the boundary will be "selected".
- A popup menu will appear, from which you can select the Copy Boundary option.
- Select Copy Boundary and then complete steps 4 and 5 described above.
